Terms of Service
1. Service Description
ExposureGuard ("we", "us", "our") provides a data broker scanning service that checks publicly accessible people-search websites for personal information listings. We offer free scans, paid reports with direct opt-out links, and ongoing monitoring subscriptions.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using ExposureGuard, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
3. User Accounts
You may create an account to access paid features. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep it updated.
4. Subscriptions and Payments
Paid plans are billed monthly through Stripe or Coinbase Commerce. You can cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or the Stripe customer portal. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial months.
5. Scan Accuracy
Our scans check publicly accessible pages on data broker websites. Results may include false positives (matches that aren't you) or false negatives (missed listings). We do not guarantee 100% accuracy. Some sites block automated access, which we report as "blocked" results requiring manual verification.
6. Data Removal
We provide links and instructions for submitting opt-out requests to data brokers. We do not control third-party data brokers and cannot guarantee that they will process removal requests or the timeline for doing so. Data brokers may re-add information from public records after removal.
7. Acceptable Use
You may only use ExposureGuard to scan for your own personal information or information of individuals who have given you explicit authorization. You may not use the service to stalk, harass, or gather information about others without their consent. Automated abuse, excessive scanning, or attempts to circumvent rate limits will result in account termination.
8. Intellectual Property
All content, design, and code comprising ExposureGuard are our property. Our opt-out guides are provided for personal use. You may not reproduce, distribute, or sell our content without permission.
9. Limitation of Liability
ExposureGuard is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to inaccurate scan results, failed opt-out requests, or data broker actions. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the preceding 12 months.
10. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. We will notify registered users of material changes via email.
